Medical Director, Anguilla
The Medical Director will manage the medical aspects of the Fund. S/he will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
The Medical Director will be expected to lead the technical activity of the NHF in:
§ preparing and negotiating service contracts with primary care, on-island secondary care, and overseas hospital care providers, and commissioning health promotion activities
§ in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer developing and using the contracting and financing mechanism to drive prevention and to procure high quality services for the NHF-eligible population
§ holding regular joint reviews with providers to monitor progress and problems and to improve performance
§ designing and implementing data generation to form the evidence base for monitoring and evaluation, and for identifying changing needs and priorities
§ undertaking / commissioning clinical audit of providers and surveys of quality and consumer satisfaction.
The Medical Director will be a strong advocate for improving health status in Anguilla and in promoting the role of the NHF in achieving this. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, s/he will make use of the national media for these purposes, and will lobby GOA on health issues that may include accident prevention, levies on harmful goods and practices, school health and sexuality education, for example.
Qualifications and experience
Candidates should be medical practitioners with a background in general practice / family medicine, knowledge of public health issues, and be a strong advocate for the role of primary care in prevention.

Qualification Requirements:
*PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT – Applicants must have an active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. EXCEPTION: Applicants who have graduated from an approved nursing educational program within the past 12 months may be appointed pending State registration as a professional nurse within 6 months of appointment. No person appointed pending registration may be retained beyond 6 months, or promoted, if registration has not been attained.
*BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. Education equivalent to the type described above is acceptable. Professional registration as defined above meets this requirement.
